What it Does: Amazon offers a variety of products and services through its online marketplace and content distribution platform, including online retail, cloud computing services, consumer electronics, e-book sales, and digital media downloads.

Mission: Amazon's goal is to make changes that have a positive impact on society at large. This includes using its position as one of the biggest companies in the world to help reduce poverty worldwide through programs such as Amazon Smile, which donates 0.5% of eligible purchases to non-profit organizations selected by customers each month.

Size and Presence: Amazon has 15,000 employees working across its three offices in India. This includes the tech giant's Bengaluru headquarters and the two other offices in Hyderabad and Delhi NCR. The number consists of both full-time and part-time employees.

Best Known For: Amazon is best known for Amazon Prime, a subscription service that offers free two-day shipping on most items and unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows.

The Good Bits: The Company has also been generous with giving back to its employees. In addition to high-quality benefits and competitive wages, Amazon offers a wide range of programs designed to help employees grow their skills and pursue new opportunities inside and outside the company.

The Not So Good Bits: In 2014, dozens of former Amazon warehouse workers sued the company for making them work long hours in "unbearable" heat without adequate pay or breaks.

The Amazon Story

Founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, Amazon began as an online bookstore but quickly expanded into selling DVDs, CDs, video games, electronics, and more. Today, Amazon sells products through its website and third-party sellers on its marketplace platform.

Amazon's business model is unique because it allows companies to sell their goods directly to consumers without buying inventory or building a distribution network. Amazon takes a cut of each sale made through its marketplace platform and charges fees for services like Prime shipping and Amazon Echo sales.

The company has grown quickly since its inception — it had just 15 employees in 1995 when it launched. Today the company has more than 250,000 employees worldwide. Amazon also owns several subsidiary businesses, including Whole Foods Market, which it acquired for $13 billion in 2017.

Culture and Vibe

Amazon's work environment is very relaxed but still professional. The dress code is casual, but jeans are not allowed on Fridays. Employees are encouraged to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in, as long as it's business casual. They also have an onsite gym for employees that includes yoga classes.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment process at Amazon is very competitive as they hire only the best people for their organization. The overall process includes three rounds, each having its own set of requirements and skillsets that you need to fulfil.

The first round is based on your resume and personal experiences that can be compared with the job description. In the second round, an HR manager will call you for an interview and assess your skillsets and knowledge about the job profile.

Suppose you successfully pass both rounds. Then you will be called for a technical round where they test your technical skills by asking programming questions or queries related to database management, etc.

Career Prospects

Amazon has a wide range of career opportunities for people with various skill sets and experience levels. Some of the most popular roles at Amazon are Inventory Management Specialist, Customer Service Representative (CSR), Senior Software Development Engineer - Alexa Voice Services, Sales Operations Manager, and Technical Program Manager - Alexa Voice Services.

Amazon India has an average salary of INR 900000 per annum. A customer service associate earns INR 260000 per annum, while a senior associate earns INR 470000 per annum. The salaries for people with this job are quickly rising, growing faster than most other careers.
